Looking Forward to 2018

The new year has arrived and already I feel it is going to be full of creativity and exciting opportunities.  As an Artist I am never quite sure what the new year will bring.  I love the interesting journeys my art has already taken me on and 2018 is already presenting possibilities.  I am never one to turn down a great opportunity.  I will keep you posted as events unfold.

I spent a lot of time creating in my studio over the Christmas break.  Experimenting, trying new and different concepts.  I have been working solidly towards entering The Collie Art Prize.  What a huge sigh of relief when I finally sent off my image and entry form just before the deadline.  I know there will be hundreds of Artists entering this exhibition from all over Australia so my chances of even getting chosen to be a finalist are very slim.  The prize money is regional Australia’s richest art prize.

I can now turn my attention the City of Stirling Summerset Festival Open Studios event.  I am thrilled to be a part of this once again.  Each the year the Open Studio event is becoming more established and eagerly anticipated by the viewing public.  It is a relaxing way to meet the Artist in their own studio and chat about their art and art practice. All the artwork will be for sale so it is a great opportunity to purchase directly from the Artist.  For me it means a huge clean up so people can actually enter my studio without tripping over something!

My new year resolution this year has been to do more plein air painting.  It’s early days but I am sticking to my goal!  There is nothing quite like getting out in the fresh air and painting in the great outdoors.  I am very fortunate that there is a very active and dedicated group of Artists in Perth who religiously get out each week and paint in many varied locations.

Thank you once again for your continued interest in my Art. I really do appreciate it.  Hopefully I will see you at the Open Studio event.

Cheers for now
